GE WES5162-9101 is an intelligent control I/O module that belongs to the 90-30 series. GE WES5162-9101 has another method of using it, that is, using two high-voltage conductors, with a working voltage of about half the DC voltage, and only one converter at each end. In this type of converter, known as a symmetric monopole converter, only ground through high impedance and no ground current. Symmetrical unipolar arrangements are a rare example for line commutated converters (i.e., NorNed interconnectors), but are very common in voltage source converters using cables. A bipolar system diagram with a grounding circuit is also available for bipolar systems. In bipolar transmission, a pair of conductors is used, with each conductor at a high potential relative to the ground and having opposite polarity. Because these conductors must be insulated at full voltage, the cost of transmission lines is higher than monopole antennas with loop conductors. However, bipolar transmission has many advantages, making it an attractive option. Under normal loads, negligible ground current flows, such as unipolar transmission with a metal ground loop. This reduces earth return loss and environmental impact.
